Born Free - M.I.A.

I didn’t realize this video was back up, it was down for a while. Interesting commentary by the visuals presented, wouldn’t you agree?

Whitney Houston died today, sad, sure. But the entire world doesn’t need to stop spinning for her. Do you know who else passed these last few weeks that nobody will give a second thought about? … These outstanding men who fought and sweat and suffered and died, so that you all could live peacefully. She met her own fate curled up in a Beverly Hills hotel nursing her selfish drug addictions, Not protecting your freedom as these Marines did. Semper Fidelis.

Uptragedyism..my new word for people who try to take away from other peoples sadness over any loss they don`t relate to personally.  There are no pedestals I have people on.  The spotlight on some is the only reason a connection among many is made and so the sense of loss.   I certainly wouldn`t make ugly about anyone`s brother, uncle, cousin or mother`s loss, no matter how it came about.

The OPs comment is a bit interesting considering that a lot of men and women who’ve served in the military, marines or whatever military body you can think of, come out of it developing drug and alcohol addictions in order to cope with “real” life. So this person is both making light of a death and ignoring the fact that Whitney’s fate could easily, and sadly, be any ex marine’s life.
ALL death is sad, there are just some that we hear of more readily. I bet if the public knew how many people have been dying in these trivial wars, there’d be a whole lot more public outcry for them to stop…
