First week in new cycle of training.
Monday we worked up to singles on the bench. Wasn’t feeling too strong, was still too sore from the weekend to be able to press, so I took it easy at went up to 57kg. Highlight of that night, hitting the log press. That shit is scary as fuck, I’ve never pressed more than 60 or so pounds overhead, so having a log press at around 80 pounds is slightly unnerving. By the end, once I felt a little more comfortable, I was able to get 2-3 reps out in a row.
Last night, worked up to squat singles. Nothing testing our max, just as heavy as possible with good form. I stopped at 107kg though I probably could’ve done 110. 2x3 at 90kg was up next followed by a challenge set of however many reps at 90kg. I managed to get 7. Not too bad, I must say.
Following that, we did a some sumo deadlifts. After trying the stance for the first time, I have a whole new respect for people who pull sumo. That shit is no joke.
Off to work I go, that’s it for my little recap of the week so far.
I got to the gym too late…
… and could only do 20 minutes :(
I’ll just have to make up for it tomorrow!
Quick little update
So, for all of you paying attention, there’s been a lot more fitness related posts around these parts as of late. I’m trying to get back on the band wagon that I took a terrible tumble off of. A large majority of people are out of shape or don’t take care of themselves, so maybe we can all use these posts as motivation together. Baby steps, baby steps.
That said, I’m going to join the Y tonight. I originally was going to join another gym that was cheaper near my house, however the Y would be more practical as it has locations all over the city and I could go with friends who live in different neighborhoods without having to buy a pass or whatever the case may be. I’m aiming to have hour sessions- 15 minutes of running and then the balance would be mostly weights. I want to be able to comfortably do deadlifts by the end of the year, which I think is a totally achievable goal.
In other news, I have officially applied to trade school! I applied for the Electricity program here in Montreal. The downside is that currently it is an 18 month wait… so I’ll have plenty of time to bum around and save money at H&M. The upside is that the course is 16 months continuously, so I should be 26 or so by the time I’m finished the program and hopefully be done an apprenticeship before 30. Then as a reward I’ll go travelling for a few months, maybe South America or Africa. Either way, I’ve got plenty of time to plan things out haha.
Next goal, buying a Vitamix!
Happy halloween kids, be safe :)
Just ordered Insanity!
Time to get into shape… what have I gotten myself into haha
